A Community's Heartfelt Tribute: St. Paul's Catholic Church Honors Assistant Priests

The St. Paul's Catholic Church Laity Council, led by the President, Patriot James Urhere, recently hosted a vibrant double celebration to honor two of the parish's beloved assistant priests: Reverend Father Godwin Ibe, marking his second priestly ordination anniversary, and Reverend Father Emmanuel Ezeadanike, celebrating his first.
The event, a testament to the council's tradition of recognizing the clergy's immense sacrifices and dedication, was a spectacular evening filled with gratitude and joy. The council consistently celebrates the birthdays and ordination anniversaries of its priests, showing appreciation for their commitment to the spiritual well-being of their parishioners.
The celebration brought together a host of distinguished guests, including the parish priest and Dean of the Benin City Deanery, Very Reverend Father Dr. Charles Omogiate.
The event was chaired by the Vice Chairman of the Parish Pastoral Council, The Right Honourable Chevalier Dr. John Richard Iyasere, with Retired Court of Appeal Justice Tinu Akomolafe Wilson serving as Mother of the Day.
Notable special guests of honor included Honourable Sir Felix Osaze Igbinovia, a Commissioner with EDOSOPADEC; Chief Anayo Ujebe; and several other prominent members of the community and various parish councils, including Mr. Matthew Ugoh, Mrs. Isoken Adeleke, and the heads of the CMO and CWO, Mr. Chidi Elo Osuagu and Mrs. Maureen Chukwuedo.
The evening's program, introduced with welcome remarks from the Laity President, Patriot James Urhere, featured a captivating performance by the El Excess Chorale.
Mr. Jude Onwuka congratulated the celebrants, urging them to remain steadfast in their calling. A special toast proposed by Dr. Rosaline Okosun raised glasses in merriment, followed by a time of dancing and celebration.
The highlight of the night was the cake-cutting ceremony, with both priests receiving a shower of gifts and voluntary cash donations from the grateful community.
Reverend Father Godwin Ibe, speaking on behalf of his colleague, expressed their heartfelt thanks to all who made the day so memorable.
The festivities concluded with a closing prayer and benediction from the Parish Priest, Very Reverend Father Dr. Charles Omogiate.
The celebration was a powerful display of the parish's deep affection for its clergy, reinforcing the strong bond between the priests and the community they serve.
