A Step Toward Justice: WACOL Leads Training to Boost Women's Leadership

-By Ruben Mario Brodrick

In a significant stride towards empowering women and fostering social justice, the Justice, Development, and Peace Commission (JDPC) of Benin, under the leadership of Executive Director, Rev Fr Benedict Onwugbenu and Blessing Lehem, recently participated in a crucial two-day training and inception meeting in Enugu.

The event, hosted by the Women's Aid Collective (WACOL), marks the start of a transformative partnership aimed at strengthening the voices of women and improving community service delivery.

The intensive training provided JDPC Benin with essential tools and strategies to enhance their work in promoting gender equality.

This collaboration is a direct response to the need for sustained efforts in creating a society where the contributions of women are not only recognized but also central to development.

The initiative will focus on key areas such as legal aid, advocacy, and social mobilization to address systemic barriers women face.

This partnership underscores a shared vision between both organizations to build a more equitable society. The JDPC Benin team extended a heartfelt thank you to the Executive Director of WACOL and her dedicated staff for their unwavering commitment and professional guidance during the program.

This initiative stands as a powerful testament to the impact of collaborative action, proving that together, we can champion change and uplift communities.
