St. Francis Catholic Church in Ekenhuan, Benin City recently hosted a significant enrollment ceremony for new members of the League of Tarcisians and Benjamin, the junior arm of the Association of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary from Deanery 3.
The historic event was presided over by the Assistant Parish Priest of St. Francis Catholic Church, Reverend Father Andy.
In his homily, he urged the newly enrolled children to be true soldiers of their patron saint, St. Tarcisius, whom he described as a dedicated lover and adorer of the Eucharist.
The newly enrolled Junior Sacred Heartians, who are boys and girls from various parishes in Deanery 3 of the association within the Archdiocese of Benin City, also participated in a special quiz competition.
The competition was a highlight of the grand reception held in their honor following the Thanksgiving Mass.
Parents from the Sacred Heart Association watched in awe as the children confidently answered complex theological questions that many adults would find challenging.
According to one of the senior members, "Our children are indeed blessed."
At the end of the quiz, the winners emerged as follows: St. Josephine Bakhita Parish was the overall winner, taking the 1st position.
The host, St. Francis Parish, secured the 2nd position.
St. Paul Parish finished in 3rd place.
Other positions were: Our Lady of Fatima (4th), St. Valentine (5th), St. Andrew (6th), and St. Peter Parish (7th)
This enrollment ceremony is expected to mark a new chapter for the League of Tarcisians and Benjamin, reviving the organization across deaneries in Benin City after years of neglect in many parishes by the parent body.
