Tinubu's Aide Dismisses 2027 Rivals, Warns Jonathan Against Presidential Bid

-By Ruben Mario Brodrick
A key aide to President Bola Tinubu has ignited a fresh political debate, confidently declaring that no rival can unseat the current president in the 2027 elections. Daniel Bwala, the Special Adviser on Policy Communication to President Tinubu, also issued a stern warning to former President Goodluck Jonathan, urging him to avoid a presidential bid and preserve his international reputation.

In a recent appearance on Channels Television’s "Politics Today," Bwala made a series of bold assertions regarding the upcoming polls.
A Confident Stance on Tinubu's Re-election
Bwala stated that President Tinubu's political influence spans both Nigeria's northern and southern regions, giving him an insurmountable advantage. He claimed, "There's not a single politician who has the capacity to knock off President Bola Tinubu on all fronts."

This declaration comes as political strategizing intensifies ahead of the 2027 elections. Notable opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, are reportedly preparing to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Peter Obi's 2027 Chances Diminished
According to Bwala, Peter Obi, who was the Labour Party's presidential candidate in 2023, is unlikely to even secure a party ticket. Bwala predicted that Obi, who finished second with 6,101,533 votes behind Tinubu's 8,794,726, would not get the ticket from the Labour Party (LP), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), or the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He also suggested Obi might not even be considered as a running mate.

A Warning to Goodluck Jonathan
Addressing calls for former President Jonathan to run, Bwala described the proponents as "unscrupulous elements" trying to "hoodwink" him. He argued that these same elements had previously "chased him away" from power and were now seeking to "destroy the reputation he has been building" as a global figure since leaving office in 2015.

Bwala's remarks highlight the early and heated political maneuvering for the 2027 presidential race, with the Tinubu camp sending a clear message to potential challengers.
