Benin City Archdiocesan CMO Successfully Concludes Evangelization Drive in Oza

 -By Ruben Mario Brodrick

The Catholic Men Organization (CMO) of the Benin City Archdiocese held its monthly evangelization program at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Oza, hosted by the Abudu Deanery. The spiritual event was a powerful display of faith and community outreach, despite a lower-than-expected turnout of members.

The day's activities were centered around a special Mass where the Parish Priest, Rev Fr Emmanuel Usifo delivered a homily encouraging everyone to become an "Evangelizer of Christ." His message set a purposeful tone for the outreach that followed.

The CMO's Archdiocesan President, Bar Austin Odigie, led a thanksgiving ceremony with other executives, including Bar Melody Ogunsuyi, Mr. Osas Egheomwanre, Joseph Okuagba, and Anthony Adigwe. Deanery presidents Francis Itimah (Abudu Deanery), Matthew Esele (Benin City Deanery), and Ekwemalor (Iguobazuwa Deanery) were also in attendance.

Following the Eucharistic celebration, the evangelization proper began. Over 50 men were divided into groups and fanned out across the communities of Oza, Ugbeze, and Oghada.

They went from house to house, sharing the "good news" and connecting with residents. This intensive exercise resulted in touching over 80 households.

Special cases were noted and reported to the parish priest for follow-up, ensuring that the mission extended beyond a single day's visit.

In a show of support for the host parish, the CMO of the Archdiocese of Benin City presented a donation of N50,000 to support ongoing projects. President Odigie handed the check directly to the parish's CMO chairman, cementing the archdiocese's commitment to supporting local parishes.
The event concluded with a warm reception.

The St. Gabriel Parish CMO, along with the CWO and youths, provided a sumptuous meal and fresh palm wine for all present.

Meanwhile, the  CMO's Public Relations Officer, in the Archdiocese, Ben Anobeja, has extended heartfelt appreciation to the parish priest, Rev Fr Usifo and the entire St. Gabriel community for their hospitality and the peaceful atmosphere provided.

This successful evangelization programme demonstrated the CMO's commitment to its motto:
 "Christ is our Leader."

The organization continues to serve as a beacon of faith, uniting men in their mission to spread the word of God and support the broader Catholic community.
