Catholic Media Alliance Takes Shape: Enugu Practitioners Secure Diocesan Support

-By Ruben Mario Brodrick

ENUGU, Nigeria — The Catholic Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (CAMPAN), Enugu Diocese chapter, officially launched its operations by holding a vital introductory meeting with the Director of Social Communications, Reverend Father Anthony Aneke. The small but significant gathering took place on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at the Holy Ghost Cathedral, signaling a new era for Catholic engagement in the local media landscape.

A Formal Introduction and Mandate

The meeting served as the formal presentation of the newly established diocesan body to the Director. Mr. Gregory Odiakosa, the interim chairman of CAMPAN Enugu Diocese, explained that the assembly was necessary to introduce the association to Fr. Aneke and to outline their initial plans and programs.

“We are just starting, having received a mandate from our national body during the last conference,” Odiakosa stated. “Since then, we have been gathering Catholic media practitioners from government-owned, privately-owned, and independent media spaces, including social media.”

The association currently has 17 practitioners in the diocesan chapter and expects a substantial increase in membership as more Catholics working across various media houses join the fold.

Diocesan Assurance and Commitment

The event was inaugurated with an opening prayer led by Fr. Anthony Aneke, who offered warm words of gratitude and encouragement to the pioneering group.

Commending the association for taking such a proactive and bold step, the diocesan communications director assured the group of his full support and commitment. He promised to actively guide the body, involve them in diocesan communication programs, and facilitate an eventual meeting with the Bishop to further solidify their position.

Participants, including Mrs. Aniude Callista Ijeoma (Member) and Mr. Uchenna Eze (Interim Secretary), described the engagement as “wonderful” and expressed immense joy at finally establishing a formal, working relationship with the diocesan communications office.

With this powerful assurance from Fr. Aneke, the Enugu Diocese chapter of CAMPAN is now poised to strengthen the Catholic presence in the media space and contribute meaningfully to the growth and evangelization mission of the Church.
