Benin Traditional Council Extends Profound Gratitude After Grand Anniversary Celebration

BENIN CITY, EDO STATE - November 4, 2025

​The Benin Traditional Council has issued a public statement from the Oba Palace, expressing its profound gratitude for the immense support and goodwill shown during the recent celebration of the ninth coronation anniversary of His Royal Majesty, Omo 'N' Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, CFR, Oba of Benin.

​In the announcement, signed by Frank Irabor, Secretary of the Benin Traditional Council, the Palace described the anniversary celebration as a "huge success," attributing the smooth proceedings to the blessings of God and the Ancestors, as well as the overwhelming participation from the general public.

​The Council singled out several high-profile political figures for their messages of goodwill and support. The appreciation goes to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and former Vice-President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. Special thanks were also extended to the Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for his "immense respect and support" for the Oba of Benin. Further gratitude was shown to the leadership of the National Assembly, including the Senate President, Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, along with all members of the National Assembly.

​The Council emphasized that the success was a collective effort, acknowledging the contributions of the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, all Honourable Members, and all members of the Edo State Executive Council. Appreciation was extended to the private sector, Traditional Rulers, Chiefs, Village Heads, Priests and Priestesses, members of the Benin Royal Family, men and women of all political divides, Markets Women, and the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria. The Council also thanked the diverse communities within Benin City, including the Christian Community, Moslems Community, Arewa Community, Igbo Community, and Yoruba Community.

​The Benin Traditional Council concluded by extending specific thanks to the security agencies for ensuring peace and order, and to the Media for their comprehensive coverages. The Council conveyed its profound gratefulness to everyone—too numerous to mention—who supported and contributed, with a final blessing: "May God Almighty continue to bless you all."
