CAEAN Delegates Pay Yuletide Visit to Archbishop Akubeze: New Provincial Chaplain Approved and Collaboration Secured

Benin City, December 15, 2025 — The Archbishop of Benin City, Most Rev. Augustine Obiora Akubeze, hosted delegates from the Catholic Artists and Entertainers Association of Nigeria (CAEAN), Benin Province/Archdiocese chapter, on a courtesy visit today, marking the spirit of the Yuletide season.

The delegation was led by the newly appointed Provincial/Archdiocesan Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Christian Enitayan. The purpose of the visit was threefold: to familiarise Archdiocesan CAEAN members with the Archbishop, to express appreciation for his recent approval of a new Chaplain to coordinate the Association's affairs within the Benin Ecclesiastical Province (which includes Warri, Issele-Uku, Auchi, Uromi, and Bomadi Dioceses), and to seek the Archbishop's formal collaboration and approval for CAEAN's future activities.

Receiving the delegates, Archbishop Akubeze promised his support for the entertainment body whenever they require his assistance. He explained that the decision to appoint Rev. Fr. Christian Enitayan as the Provincial Chaplain was a concession reached during a meeting of all Bishops of the Ecclesiastical Province of Benin, where they agreed that the current Archdiocesan Chaplain should take over the provincial leadership since he possessed the most experience among the priests on the Provincial list.

However, the Archbishop issued a clear mandate, calling on the CAEAN leadership in the Province to operate strictly within the ambit of their jurisdiction, emphasizing they have no authority over CAEAN affairs at the National level or in other dioceses outside the Province.

The leader of the delegation, Rev. Fr. Christian Enitayan, graciously accepted the opportunity to serve, promising to advance CAEAN's mission. Mr. Greg O. Greg, the CAEAN Provincial Coordinator, formally introduced the visitors, clarified the Association's role in the Church, and expressed delight that CAEAN is now well-known by the Archbishop.

He reiterated the need for the Archbishop's continued support. The visit concluded with the hopeful motto: "CAEAN Forever... Art and Entertainment for Christ."
