Strategic Appointment Signals Push for Enhanced Government Communication

Benin City, Edo State — In a strategic move to reinforce its public engagement and communication strategy, the Edo State Government today announced the appointment of Dr. Ebojele Akhere Patrick as the new Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Governor. The appointment was approved by His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, the Executive Governor of Edo State.
Dr. Ebojele brings a formidable and diverse background to the role, spanning journalism, public administration, research, and academia. He is widely recognized for his extensive professional record, which includes significant stints across reputable Nigerian media platforms.
His distinguished journalism career includes serving as the Edo/Delta Correspondent for Channels Television, a prominent national broadcaster. He also held key correspondent positions at the New Nigerian Newspaper, Champion Newspaper, and Comet Newspapers.
"This appointment reflects the commitment of the present administration to strengthen and deepen the communication channels between the Government and the good people of Edo State, ensuring clarity, transparency, and effective dissemination of Government policies, programmes, and activities," stated Umar Musa Ikhilor, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), in the official announcement dated December 4th, 2025.
Dr. Ebojele will assume the duties of CPS, taking over from Mr. Fred Itua. The Government expressed profound appreciation to Mr. Itua for his dedicated service and contributions, noting that he will be reassigned to a new role to be communicated subsequently.
This choice of a veteran media professional and public administrator underscores the Okpebholo administration's intent to prioritize effective public communication and foster a clearer, more transparent relationship with the citizens of Edo State.
