Historic Breakthrough: Edo Police Appoints ASP Eno Nkereuwem Ikoedem as First Female PPRO

The Edo State Police Command has made history with the appointment of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Eno Nkereuwem Ikoedem as its new Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO). Her posting, approved by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, marks the first time a woman has held the command's top public communication role, ushering in a new era of police-public engagement.

​A Profile in Discipline and Education

​ASP Ikoedem, a proud native of Akwa Ibom State, brings a robust blend of academic excellence and extensive operational experience to her new role.

​Academic Background: She was commissioned into the Force in 2022 after completing a rigorous five-year program at the Nigeria Police Academy, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in English. Her commitment to professional growth continues as she pursues a Master's degree in English from the National Open University of Nigeria.

​Specialized Training: Her training portfolio is diverse and specialized, encompassing courses in combat operations, counter-terrorism, forensic analysis, basic detective work, and leadership development at elite police institutions across Nasarawa, Jos, and Kano.

​Versatile Operational Experience

​Since joining the police, ASP Ikoedem has established a strong reputation for versatility within the Edo Command. Her previous roles have provided a critical foundation for managing public relations:

​She has served as the Divisional Traffic Officer at Adesuwa Division.

​She held the position of Administrative Officer at Evbuotubu Division.

​She was the Officer-in-Charge of both the Crack Squad and the Confidential Unit under the Department of Operations.

​Crucially, she served as Deputy PPRO to two consecutive spokespersons, a role that finely honed her public engagement and communication expertise.

​A New Era for Police-Public Relations

​The command views ASP Ikoedem’s appointment as a strategic move to significantly enhance police-public relations and communication. Her fresh voice and strong background are expected to deepen engagement across both traditional media and digital platforms.

​The appointment was formally announced by ASP Emmanuel Nyokema, the Administrative Officer in the Command's Public Relations Department, and has been met with widespread acclaim across the command.
