Driving Faith: Innoson Motors Bolsters Catholic Mission with Gift of Indigenous SUVs

NNEWI, NIGERIA — In a powerful fusion of corporate philanthropy and national pride, Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM) has donated high-end, Nigerian-made vehicles to the top leadership of the Catholic Church. The gesture serves as both a practical boost to the Church’s evangelical work and a loud endorsement of African industrial ingenuity.

A Gift for the Mission

The "Pride of African Roads" has extended its reach to the highest levels of the clergy. Chief Innocent Chukwuma Nwala, the founder and CEO of Innoson Motors, recently gifted two Ikenga model SUVs to support the Church's pastoral logistics.

The recipients of these indigenous machines are:

  • The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN)
  • The Apostolic Nunciature in Nigeria (The diplomatic mission of the Holy See/Vatican)

Local Innovation for Global Faith

The donation was facilitated by Most Rev. Jonas Benson Okoye, Bishop of the Nnewi Diocese, who bridged the gap between the Nnewi-based manufacturer and the Church's administrative heart.

Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Michael Ayanleke Banjo, Secretary General of the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN), hailed the move as a masterclass in "Faith and Works." He emphasized that while foreign products often dominate African markets, this donation highlights the excellence of home-grown technology.

"The vehicles... reflect indigenous innovation and will further contribute to the Church’s work in Nigeria, including the mission of the Holy See in this country," Fr. Banjo stated, noting that generosity is most effective when expressed through practical support.

About the Visionary: Innoson Motors

Founded in 1995 in Nnewi, Anambra State, Innoson began as a motorcycle assembly plant before evolving into Nigeria’s first fully indigenous vehicle manufacturer. This latest donation solidifies the company’s reputation not just as a business leader, but as a pillar of community and spiritual support.

As the Church continues its service to the faithful, these "Made in Nigeria" vehicles will now play a central role in navigating the terrains of the mission, proving that the road to the future is best traveled in cars built at home.
