Congregation of Mother Teresa of Calcutta Elects Historic First Governing Council
In a profound milestone for the Church and the religious life, the Congregation of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, Fathers and Brothers (CMT), has triumphantly concluded its 1st General Chapter.
Guided by the prophetic theme, "God has begun a great work" (Phil 1:6), the Chapter served as a sacred season of discernment and renewal, marking the community's transition into a new chapter of institutional maturity.
Convoked under the paternal care of the Bishop of Bauchi Diocese, Most Rev. Hilary Nanman Dachelem, CMF, the assembly culminated in the historic election of a new Governing Council tasked with carrying forward the charism of their namesake.
Leading this new administration is the newly elected Superior General, Rev. Fr. Meltus Godfrey Ikem, CMT, who will be supported by a dedicated team of councilors.
This team includes Rev. Fr. Solomon Okechukwu Eze, CMT, as Vicar General; Rev. Fr. Pev Gabriel, CMT, as Prefect of Formation; Rev. Fr. Igiri John, CMT, as Prefect of Spirituality; and Rev. Fr. Nicholas Alutu, CMT, who assumes the role of Econome/Bursar.
Together, these men represent a diverse blend of spiritual leadership and administrative stewardship.
The Congregation expressed its deepest appreciation to Bishop Dachelem for his episcopal guidance, as well as to the Founder, Very Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Onyeocha, whose vision and sacrifice laid the foundation for this growing mission. Gratitude was also extended to the facilitators who steered the Chapter to its successful completion.
As the new leadership steps into their roles, they do so backed by the prayers and support of the entire CMT family, committed to guiding the Congregation with unwavering zeal, fidelity, and a heart for the mission of Christ.
