UROMI— It was a historic gathering of clergy, state officials, and traditional leaders on May 20th at the Uromi Chancery Complex, as the Catholic Diocese of Uromi marked the 20th anniversary of the Justice, Development, Peace and Caritas Initiative (JDPCI).

The anniversary began with a Holy Mass of Thanksgiving presided over by the Chief Shepherd of the Diocese, Most Rev. Donatus Ogun. Delivering his homily, Bishop Ogun underscored the critical role JDPCI plays as a pillar of the Church's pastoral care, urging the faithful to actively champion justice in their daily lives to ensure lasting peace.

The event attracted high-profile guests, most notably the First Lady of Edo State, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani. Also in attendance were various traditional rulers, leaders of fellow Christian denominations, priests, religious, and lay faithful who joined the JDPCI Commission in a vibrant thanksgiving procession.

The anniversary events concluded with a grand reception that featured a commemorative book launch, cultural entertainment, and an awards presentation honoring key individuals who have contributed to JDPCI's growth.

Under the current leadership of Executive Director Rev. Fr. Dr. Fidelis Arhedo, the Uromi JDPCI continues to fulfill its mandate as an essential organ for societal development, justice, and charity.
