Jeered or Jealous? Policeman Brutally Attacks ‘Good Samaritan’ for Carrying His Wife Across Flooded River

NAIROBI, Kenya — A heartwarming act of neighborly kindness took a dark and violent turn when a police officer reportedly assaulted a man who was helping his wife cross a dangerously flooded river.

The bizarre incident, which was captured in a now-viral video, has sparked intense debate across social media, leaving the public shocked by the officer's extreme overreaction.

A Helper in Time of Trouble

According to witnesses, heavy rains had caused a local river to swell rapidly, making it impossible for pedestrians to cross safely. Fearing the powerful currents, a stranded woman pleaded with bystanders for assistance.

Stepping up to the plate, a local man volunteered to carry her on his back through the rushing waters. Witnesses noted that onlookers initially cheered the gesture, viewing it as a genuine act of chivalry to keep the woman from being swept away.

The Husband’s Furious Return

The atmosphere changed in an instant when the woman’s husband—an off-duty police officer—arrived at the scene. Completely misinterpreting the rescue mission, the officer flew into a jealous rage.

"Anashika bibi ya nani hivyo?" (Whose wife is he holding like that?) the enraged officer can be heard shouting in the viral video.

Despite frantic explanations from bystanders that the man was merely a Good Samaritan saving his wife from the floodwaters, the officer refused to calm down. Accusing the rescuer of touching his wife inappropriately, the confrontation quickly escalated from verbal abuse to physical violence.

Violent Aftermath and Public Outrage

The officer allegedly attacked the helpless rescuer with a blunt object. According to local residents, the assault left the victim with severe injuries to his hands and legs. Locals eventually intervened to rescue the man from the beating, rushing him to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.

Social Media Reacts: "Fear Married People"

The incident has ignited a massive conversation online among Kenyans, blending shock with dark humor. While some netizens called for the immediate arrest of the officer, others joked about the dangerous "risks" of helping strangers.
